Direktøren for det skandaleramte Full Tilt Poker Raymond Bitar har overgivet sig til de amerikanske myndigheder.
Nu skal man være forsigtig med at tro på alt hvad der står på nettet, men ifølge en tråd på TwoPlusTwo, oprettet af den samme person som første gang lækkede oplysningerne omkring PokerStars forestående køb af Full Tilt, så skulle direktøren for Full Tilt Raymond Bitar have opgivet sin landflygtighed og overgivet sig til de amerikanske myndigheder i går.
Historien bakkes op af en påstået e-mail fra Bitar til de ansatte hos Pocket Kings, som er selskabet i Irland som driver Full Tilt. I e-mailen står følgende:
To all Dublin Staff,
By now you probably have heard that I have returned to the US to deal with civil and criminal case that are pending against me in New York. We have all worked hard over the last 15 months to preserve Full Tilt’s assets and potential in order to provide for the repayment of all players, and that continues to be our top priority. It is as important as ever that we all do everything possible to make that happen and, hopefully our deal with Poker Stars will very soon make our goal a reality. My return to the US is part of this process.
I am particularly grateful to all of you here in Dublin for your hard work, patience and understanding during this difficult time. I believe that your hard work and dedication should not go unrecognized, and we have made arrangements for Poker Stars to guarantee all July salaries. You should therefore have no concern about coming to work during this period. After that, we expect that your employment contracts will be assumed by the buyer of the company’s assets.
For those that need to reach me, I expect to continue to be available by email and phone starting late Monday, New York time.

PokerStars forhandlinger muligvis faldet på plads
Og hvad mange synes at have bidt mærke i, er at Bitar oplyser at PokerStars vil betale medarbejdernes løn for juli måned, hvilket om noget indikerer at forhandlingerne omkring overtagelsen måske endeligt er faldet på plads. Bitar kunne meget vel være en af de sidste brikker som mangler, for hvis man kender det amerikanske retssystem, så ligner den frivillige overgivelse og anholdelse en aftale, som er indgået med Department of Justice.
I samme tråd er nemlig også anklageskriftet mod Bitar, og det samlede antal år han kan se frem til bag tremmer, såfremt han dømmes for alle 11 anklagepunkter, løber op i 155 år.
Det virker ikke som om han har lyst til frivilligt at forlade Irland og lade sig spærre inde i et amerikansk fængsel, hvis det ikke var fordi der var en mulighed for at undgå langvarig straf.
